Most auto consumers want to make sure they get the best deal possible when they purchase a new vehicle. This includes taking advantage of any rebates and incentives that may be available from the dealer or manufacturer. In order to do that; however, you need to make sure you time your purchase just right to coincide with time periods when dealers and manufacturers are most likely to offer the best deals. For more details regarding when the best time might be to find those great deals, read on.
Generally, the best time to find a good deal on your next vehicle purchase begins around September and last through November, if not the end of the year. This is because new models begin to arrive and September and with lot space limited dealers need to get the old models moved off the lot. In order to do that they will frequently offer good deals on the old models in order to move them out. Keep in mind that even though these are technically the ‘old’ models they are still brand new and offer numerous advantages including a lower sticker price.
A lower sticker price can be taken advantage of through items such as rebates, incentives and better financing deals that you might would ordinarily be able to find any other time of the year. In addition, if certain models were either overstocked or undersold the manufacturer may also offer even deeper discounts in order to get them sold. This can often take the form of a year end clearance sale.
You can also take advantage of good discounts by considering the time of the month in which you purchase your vehicle. Dealers must meet certain sales quotas every month and in order to do that they will often offer discounts to move cars off the lot toward the end of the month if they see that they are not meeting that quota as the end of the month begins to roll around. Ideally, the last two months of the month are the best time to start shopping around for your next automobile. If the dealer is a particularly large one employees might even stand to get a bonus for exceeding the sales quota, in which case you might be able to take advantage of an even better deal.
Be sure to keep in mind that if a dealer does not appear to be in the mood to negotiate and it’s already the last week of the month this could be a sign he or she has already met their quota for the month and may not be interested in exceeding it enough to offer deep discounts. If you can wait until the following month and try again you might find out he is singing a different tune; however.
